The purpose of this page is to provide important information to those who are serving member churches as pastors, associatiates, and their spouses. Individuals should check back often for updated information.
NEW INFORMATION RELEASED JUNE 24, 2008: The IRS Mileage Reimbursement Rate for 2008 has been INCREASED effective July 1, 2008: The IRS has announced the NEW reimbursement rate for business miles for the remainder of 2008. Beginning July 1, 2008 the reimbursement rate will rise to 58.5 cents per mile (The rate for the first six months of 2008 - through June 30th - was 50.5 cents per mile). FYI, the mileage rate for driving for chariatable organizations/causes remains at 14 cents per mile (this is by law and can not be adjusted without an act of congress). The mileage rate for medical or moving purposes INCREASED from 19 cents per mile to 27 cents per mile for the remainder of 2008.
Accountable Reimbursement Plan: Every church should adopt an accountable reimbursement plan for this and all other ministry related expenses of the pastor and staff members. IRS/Legal Information for Churches: Powerpoint presentation to detail IRS ands legal issues. Individuals may study this to help with a variety of questions. This may be of help to pastors about tax questions. For more detailed information, contact Dougald. This is being updated and will be added to the web site soon.
Tax Help Available Through TRBA Center: If you need assistance with taxes or just need information about taxes for those involved in ministry, please contact Dougald for assistance. TRBA attempts to stay up to date with clergy tax law and has materials available to help you as an individual or the church as it seeks to meet the needs of its ministers and decrease the tax liability to the minister. Please be advised we have Turbo Tax in the office if you wish to use it to complete your taxes - simply bring a flash drive to save your information.
Pastors' Wives Monthly Fellowship: Each month all pastors' wives are invited to a time of fellowship and light breakfast at the associational center. The wives meet the first Saturday of each month at 9:00 AM. For additional information, contact Linda McLaurin at 252-459-4779 or via e mail at lmac7212@hotmail.com.
